A photograph is a canvas - so says Seattle artist Andrew Miller. Miller, over the past decade, has developed a unique and abstract rendition of reality via hand painted and inked-over photography.

As well as an accomplished painter and independent filmmaker, Miller has a diverse and devout ethic to his work; ranging from live painting collaborations with Blue Scholars to organizing film fund-raising benefits.

His work has been seen in galleries and venues in Seattle, Los Angeles and New York, and in 2008 he was awarded by Seattle’s True Independent Film Festival for his work with ink photography. “What I want is to create movement and stillness in each piece,” Miller says. “…to be abstract and matter of fact, all at the same time."
