Mark Lafalce
Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, I moved to Seattle in the Winter of 1997 and have been painting here ever since. I found the vibrancy of the city and
the essence and energy of it's urban environments and industrial complexities inspired me to start a visual journal. I began to see a pattern of umbrella blues, stoplight reds, rainy evening purples and taxicab yellows and those colors started to fill my palette.
I like to observe the connection between nature and man in the context of city life. I work to capture the tension between organic and inorganic elements
through the juxtaposition of light and color. I work in a variety of mediums and experiment with different styles because this helps me to discover new aspects of my art and helps me to maintain a lucid and progressive dream-state in my waking life. It also allows me to express a range of moods in my work.
I paint my subjects according to the seasons of nature, because there is such a vast difference in our perception of light and color at different times of year.
I work in my studio in the Georgetown Artist Community of Seattle and open my studio to the public on the second Saturday of every month.
